Students Compete in the 30th Annual Calvert County Envirothon

The 30th Annual Calvert County Envirothon was held on April 20 at King's Landing Park. Forty- five students from Calvert, Huntingtown, Northern, and Patuxent High Schools tested their knowledge in the fields of wildlife management soil conservation, forestry management, and aquatic resources.

After acquiring the same high score, (316 out of 400) the Northern and Calvert's teams held a vigorous run-off event with Calvert High School claiming the winning overall score. Huntingtown had the high score in aquatics, Calvert had high scores in forestry and soils, and Northern had the high score in wildlife. The Calvert High School team will represent Calvert County at the University of Maryland Clarksville Research Farm on June 22, 2022.

The Envirothon is sponsored by the Calvert County Soil Conservation Service, Calvert Forestry Board, Calvert County Natural Resource Division, Morgan State University Estuarine Research Center, American Chestnut Land Trust, and the CHESPAX program of Calvert County Public Schools.
