Patuxent High School Theatre Program Spotlighted by Maryland State Department of Education

Patuxent High School is proud to announce that its award-winning theatre program has been spotlighted by the Maryland State Department of Education. The recognition showcases the program’s exceptional instruction, student leadership, and collaborative approach to the arts, highlighting the powerful role theatre plays in the lives of students.

This documentary-style film offers an inside look at Patuxent High School’s thriving theatre classroom. It follows the full arc of a theatre production – from rehearsals and technical design to the intensity of tech week and opening night, concluding with the post-production wrap-up.

The film highlights theatre teacher Allen Price, who opens his classroom to show how intentional instructional practices, creative vision, and dedication empower students to lead their production of Legally Blonde.

This spotlight underscores the value of investing in arts education. It shows how supportive leadership, skilled instruction, and meaningful student opportunities create both outstanding performances and empowered, engaged students.

We invite families, alumni, and community members to watch the spotlight video and celebrate the creativity and leadership of Patuxent High School theatre students.
