The Project-Based Learning (PBL) initiative at CCPS aims to transform traditional teaching methods by engaging students in real-world, meaningful projects that promote collaboration, inquiry, and critical thinking. This approach not only fosters academic skills but also develops essential 21st-century competencies, inspiring a lifelong love for learning. A key component of the CCPS PBL program is the role of community partnerships, which enrich the student experience by connecting classroom learning to local organizations and resources. These collaborations enable students to tackle real community challenges, enhancing project relevance and cultivating civic responsibility. Additionally, the program provides a robust professional development pathway for educators, including intensive summer training and ongoing mentorship, ensuring that teachers are well-equipped to facilitate this dynamic learning approach. Ultimately, the Re-Imagining Student Engagement (RISE) PBL initiative empowers students to take an active role in their education and prepares them for success in an ever-evolving world.

Career Advisors are in every middle and high school throughout the county to facilitate individualized conversations and provide engagement opportunities, helping all students identify their strengths, talents, and interests to develop knowledge about what they can do in school so they are college and career ready when they graduate.

Apprenticeship MD is where youth can earn while they learn! Students in their senior year go to school for part of their day and then go to a registered youth apprenticeship the other part of the day. The goal of our apprenticeship program is that each apprentice will earn an industry credential and be offered a full-time job with the company they are working for when they graduate high school.
