Federal & State Education Information

No Child Left Behind − The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 is a landmark in education reform designed to improve student achievement and change the culture of American’s schools.

Transitioning Resources

Maryland Report Card − The Maryland Report Card is a collection of data compiled on an annual basis to provide information on school performance.

Military Child Education Coalition − The MCEC is a non-profit organization that seeks to address transition and education issues that face military-connected children.

Military OneSource − Military OneSource is provided by the Department of Defense at no cost to active duty, Guard and Reserve (regardless of activation status) and their families. It is a virtual extension of installation services. Consultants are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Academic Support

Free Tutoring − No-cost online tutoring for children of U.S. Military families. Get online tutoring with a live teacher, available 24/7.

Post Secondary Preparation

Fisher House Scholarship Programs − College scholarships for children of active, reserve, and retired military members.

CCPS Purple Star Schools

The Purple Star Schools Program was established by Education Article § 7-129, approved by the Maryland General Assembly in 2022.

Its purpose is to support the unique needs of students whose parents or guardians serve in our country’s armed forces by recognizing those schools that go above and beyond in providing them support during and beyond transition to the new school.

COMAR 13A.06.10 Purple Star Schools Program outlines the criteria schools must meet to receive Purple Star designation. The following schools have received their Purple Star designation:

Mt. Harmony Elementary School
