Junior Majors
Dance
This class will begin with basic stretching techniques that will improve flexibility. Technique such as turns, jumps, kicks, and leaps will be practiced daily. A dance routine will be taught and performed at the end of week showcase. Participants will also have time to collaboratively choreograph their own dance pieces.
4th/5th Grade Drama
If your student loves drama, can act their heart out, or just wants to try something new then this is a great place to start! Students will audition for a role, rehearse together, and then perform a show at the Summer Arts Academy Showcase. This is for students who have completed grades 4 and 5 in 2025-26.
4th/5th Grade Junior Band & Orchestra
Students will continue with the fundamentals they learned this past year in Band and Orchestra at their schools. Students will learn/perform tunes in a full orchestra setting where strings, winds and percussion can combine! This gives students a chance to perform with other students their age from around the county. This is for students who have completed grades 4 and 5 in 2025-26.
Prerequisite: Students must have played an instrument this past school year.
Art – Cardboard Sculpture
Let’s use this durable and readily available material to create and build imaginative sculpture. Students will use a variety of cardboard cutting and attaching techniques to create artwork that transforms cardboard into something truly artistic. Students will also enhance their artwork with paints and other materials as well.
Art – Crafting Creatures
This course is designed for our junior students. It will allow them to explore different creatures who live under the sea. We will make fun crafts to hang on your refrigerator, your walls, and anywhere else you would like to display your art! Students will create air-dry clay magnets, necklaces, Perler bead sea friends, and Kawaii sea creature paintings.
Art – Animation Adventures
Bring your drawings to life in this exciting Animation course! Students will explore the 12 principles of animation—the same techniques used by professional animators to create movement, expression, and storytelling. Through hands-on projects, students will create multiple flip books and experiment with early animation devices like a thaumatrope and a zoetrope to understand how motion works.
Along the way, students will take a virtual tour of a real animation studio and learn about careers in the animation industry, with a special focus on the fascinating role of a Foley artist—creating the sound effects that make animated worlds feel real.
This class is perfect for creative thinkers who enjoy drawing, storytelling, and experimenting with motion. This is the perfect class to explore animation and try something new—no drawing skills required, just bring your creativity! By the end of the course, students will have a collection of original animations and a deeper understanding of how art and sound come together to create movie magic!
Junior Morning Minors
Music – Chorus
Students will immerse themselves in the world of music, developing their vocal skills and discovering new techniques for singing. They will participate in daily vocal warm-ups, group singing sessions, and some one-on-one coaching, helping them refine their pitch, tone, and breath control. Students will also learn about vocal health, proper posture, and stage presence, gaining confidence in both solo and ensemble performances. By the end of the camp, students will have the opportunity to showcase their progress in a final performance, demonstrating their newfound skills and love for singing.
Music – Steel Band Pan Jam
Take a trip to Trinidad and Tobago where we will learn about Steel Drums! Students will learn to play songs on an introductory steel drum and will learn about the role of the "engine room" in a steel drum ensemble.
Music – Beginning/Switching Band & Orchestra
Students will learn the basics of how to assemble their instrument, hold their instrument, and general care of their instrument. They will also learn basic rhythms and notes to play very basic tunes. This is for students who are new to the instrument. Contact your school’s instrumental music teacher to make sure you have an instrument ready for you at camp.
Art – Art by Artists
Students will take a brief look at art history to explore the how and why of selected artworks. Each day students will be introduced to several artists and have the opportunity to make art inspired by the content of their work and/or their materials and techniques.
Art – Booked & Folded: Turning Pages into Art
Students will transform old books into amazing works of art through the creative process of book folding. We will learn how to carefully fold pages to create patterns and shapes, turning ordinary books into unique 3D sculptures. The repetitive, gentle folding process is not only creative but also deeply relaxing, offering a calming, almost meditative experience that helps students slow down and focus. Along the way, they’ll build patience, attention to detail, and confidence in their artistic abilities. This project encourages creativity, sustainability, and a fresh way of thinking about books—not just as something to read, but as something to reimagine and create with. By the end, each student will have a one-of-a-kind piece they can proudly display at home!
Art – Camp Crafts *FULL*
This course is designed for our junior students. We will explore the fun crafts that are traditionally involved in summer camps. Students will create friendship bracelets. We will also create mini tapestries with yarn and glue. Students will be able to design their own Quill photo frames. Lastly, we will create ocean creature art utilizing tissue paper and other supplies.
Junior Afternoon Minors
Dance – Junior Poms
This class is for dancers who want to learn and improve their pom dance skills. Students will learn basic stretching techniques to improve flexibility and learn a pom routine that enhances sharp moves, kicks, and visuals.
Drama – 3rd Grade Drama
If your student loves drama, can act their heart out, or just wants to try something new then this is a great place to start! Students will audition for a role, rehearse together, and then perform a show at the Summer Arts Academy Showcase. This is for students who completed grade 3 in 2025-26.
Music – Bucket Drummin’
Have you ever wanted to learn the basics of being a drummer? Here's how—Students will learn the basic of how to play rhythms using buckets. Over the course, we will learn how to read bucket drumming music, play ensemble tunes on the buckets, and get a chance to create your own beats on the buckets.
Art – Marvelous Markers
Students will experiment with a variety of marker types and techniques that will exceed their expectations of what they imagine markers can do.
Art – Creative Hustle: Art, Fashion, and Design *FULL*
This course is designed for our junior and senior students. We will take a look into some of the careers that utilize art. We will explore the career Involving body art by creating American Tradition drawn tattoos and face painting. Students will create custom hair clips while exploring graphic design. Lastly, students will explore product design and marketing by creating slime.
Art – Swimming in Collage
Create cut paper collage under sea images using paper designed and created by the students. Using watercolor washes and layering, stamping and alternative printing, students will make paper that will then be used to create cut paper collages of the under sea environment.

Senior Majors

Drama – Senior Drama *FULL*
Develop your skills and knowledge of acting while enjoying drama activities and preparing a brief performance for the end of the week. This class is appropriate for students who have a strong interest in drama (acting) and will cover the concepts needed to prepare a solid performance.
Music – Senior Band & Orchestra
Students will continue with the fundamentals they learned this past year in Band and Orchestra at their schools. Students will learn/perform tunes in a full orchestra setting where strings, winds and percussion can combine! This gives students a chance to perform with other students their age from around the county. For grades 6, 7, 8.

Art – Under the Sea
Students will create a variety of 3-dimensional work with an underwater theme. Assemblage with objects from nature/beach, painted bottles, sea glass/drift wood suncatchers, and ocean creature sculptures.
Art – Animation Adventures
Bring your drawings to life in this exciting Animation course! Art – Dive Into Stenciling
Students will use both traditional and digital means to create stencils—including cut stencils and screenprinting—based on the sea and sea creatures. Collaborative, largescale printing as well as individual works will be created on paper and fabric.

Drama – Whose Line is it Anyway? *FULL*
What happens when actors forget their lines? They IMPROVISE, of course! Students learn how to think on their feet, be a better listener, and work with others while having fun. We will learn and practice a variety of improvisation and "warm up" activities. All are welcome!

Students will learn wire construction techniques, practice their skills and then create a sea themed 3-dimensional animal.

Students will use LEGO as a tool of artmaking, using LEGO to create relief printing plates.
Senior Afternoon Minors
Drama – Voices Alive! Acting for the Airwaves
No costumes, no sets—just your voice and imagination. This course focuses on acting skills like timing, expression, and character development for audio storytelling. You’ll rehearse scenes, perform with a cast, and record a full radio drama, using foley effects to build the world around your performance.
Music – Bucket Drummin'

Music – Loopy Loopers
Students will learn how to use Digital Audio Workstations, such as Soundtrap to create their own music. Soundtrap allows students to select from hundreds of different loops to create their own music! It's a great way to explore and create their own music, without needing to play an instrument. CCPS laptops will be utilized in this class and need to be brought fully charged to camp each day. Rising 6th and 9th graders will be provided with laptops during the day for class use.
Art – Gyotaku: Traditional Japanese Art
Students will learn about the traditional Japanese art form Gyotaku and then create prints from nature using traditional methods and painted elements.
Art – Ugly Dollz
Get ready for the silliest, squishiest, most creative fun ever! In this class, you’ll design and create your very own Ugly Doll—the wackier and crazier, the better! There are no mistakes here—just creativity. Use bright fabrics, felt, buttons, googly eyes, and tons of fun materials to bring your wacky character to life. Will your doll have three eyes? Super long arms? Tiny legs? It’s totally up to you!
