County Competition
The 36th annual Calvert County History Fair took place on March 14, 2026. Congratulations to all winners!
Most Outstanding Project Award Winners
Special recognition to the recipients of the Senator Mike Miller Memorial Best Project Award. For Senior Division: Aurora Casey; and for Junior Division: Emerson Hildebrandt.
History Fair Teacher of the Year
Ms. Hope Mullins, of Plum Point Middle, is Calvert County History Fair Teacher of the Year.
State Competition
The Maryland History Day competition took place on May 2, 2026, at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). Calvert County Public Schools (CCPS) students demonstrated exceptional scholarship and dedication, representing the district with distinction through their strong historical inquiry, research, and presentation skills.
A special congratulations goes to Nicolette Peters of Plum Point Middle School, who earned a second‑place finish and advanced to National History Day. This marks her second consecutive year qualifying for the national competition, an outstanding achievement that reflects her academic talent and perseverance. She will represent CCPS at the national level this June.
CCPS also congratulates Emerson Hildebrandt of Mill Creek Middle School, who received the Award for Excellence in Legal and Constitutional History, recognizing his thoughtful analysis and clear presentation of complex historical topics.
In addition, Amber Mullins of Plum Point Middle School was honored as the Calvert County Public Schools District History Day Teacher of the Year, acknowledging her dedication to excellence in Social Studies education.
CCPS extends its congratulations to all participating students and sincere appreciation to the teachers and families who supported them throughout the History Day process. Maryland History Day provides students with meaningful opportunities to strengthen critical thinking, research, and communication skills, and CCPS students rose to the challenge in impressive ways.
