Internet Filtering (Linewize)

Calvert County Public Schools uses internet filtering to help ensure students can safely and responsibly use technology for learning, both at school and at home.

Why Internet Filtering is Important

Every CCPS-issued laptop includes device-level internet filtering powered by Linewize. This filtering is designed to support learning while protecting students from harmful or inappropriate content.

CCPS internet filtering:

  • Blocks harmful or inappropriate content
  • Protects students on campus and at home
  • Complies with the federal Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA)
  • Adjusts access based on students’ age and grade level

Because filtering is built directly into the device, protections remain in place wherever students use their CCPS-issued laptop, not just on the school network.

What Internet Filtering Does

  • Protects students regardless of location
  • Applies age-appropriate content restrictions
  • Supports focused, safe digital learning

What Internet Filtering Does Not Do

  • Does not monitor classroom instruction
  • Does not provide parents with live access to student screens

Filtering is focused on content access, not on supervising daily classroom activities.
