Planning and Construction

To plan, design, and construct the best facilities in support of the Educational Mission of Calvert County Public Schools.

The Construction and Planning Department staff seeks to accomplish these objectives through collaboration with all stakeholders. Main functions include:

• Development of the Educational Facilities Master Plan (EFMP)
• Annual preparation of the 6-year Capital Improvement Program (CIP) in coordination with Calvert County Government and the Maryland Public School Construction Program
• Facilitate the development of Educational Specifications with instructional and support staff
• Coordination of design professionals as required to prepare documents for permitting, bidding, and construction, ensuring code compliance and adherence to CCPS policies & procedures
• Oversight of construction activities to ensure adherence to contract documents

The Educational Facilities Master Plan (EFMP) is a long range planning document that is produced annually. The EFMP reflects the operating procedures of Calvert County Public Schools, planning and community analysis, CCPS inventory evaluation and enrollment data. The EFMP is the basis upon which future facility planning decisions are made.

Educational Facilities Master Plan

The Capital Improvements Program (CIP) is a result of the planning needs reflected within the Educational Facilities Master Plan. The CIP is developed annually and includes capital budget expenditures for the upcoming fiscal year, and a five year capital improvement program for future years. Funding is provided by the State and County governments.
