Latest CCPS Guidance

Calvert County Public Schools is currently mask-optional.

However, while the guidelines for universal masking have changed, neither the CDC nor Maryland Department of Health guidelines have changed for mask wearing after COVID illness or for COVID exposure as a close contact. Please note the following quarantine/isolation and mask guidelines are still in effect:

  • When a child is ill with COVID-like symptoms or tests positive for COVID, he/she must isolate for 5 days.
    • To come back on day 6, the child must have clearly reduced symptoms and be fever free for 24 hours without fever reducing medications and must wear a mask through day 10.
    • If the parent opts to have the child not wear a mask, or the child is unable to properly and consistently mask, the child may return to school on day 11.
  • If an unvaccinated child has had a COVID exposure, they must remain home for 5 days.
    • To come back on day 6, the child must remain without symptoms of illness and wear a mask during days 6-10.
    • If the parent opts to have the child not wear a mask, or the child is unable to properly and consistently mask, the child may return on day 11.
  • If a vaccinated child (or child had COVID within the past 90 days, confirmed by viral test) has had a COVID exposure, the child may attend school as long as:
    • They remain without symptoms of illness and wear a mask through day 10 after exposure.
    • If the parent opts to have the child not wear a mask, or the child is unable to properly and consistently mask, the child may return on day 11.

Refer to the CDC guidelines for COVID-19 Quarantine and Isolation for additional information.
