Board of Education and Calvert Association of Educational Support Staff Reach Tentative Agreement on Employment Contract

The Calvert County Board of Education and Calvert Association of Educational Support Staff have reached a tentative agreement on revisions to the support staff employment contract.
While the current three-year contract remains in effect through June 30, 2013, compensation and salary were negotiable for the final year of that three-year contract.  In addition, each party had the opportunity to reopen up to two (2) other articles during this year’s negotiations.
The tentative agreement reached on September 7 includes no cost of living adjustment or step increases for this school year.
Changes in the contract include: the opportunity for support employees to earn additional compensation and/or additional personal leave by working up to two extra days by participating in professional development; a wellness incentive program which will compensate employees when they use 3 or fewer sick days during the year; and a stipend for employees who participate in a wellness program jointly sponsored by the school system and Calvert Memorial Hospital.

Both the support employees and the Board of Education must now ratify the contract addendum.
