| Maryland School Assessments (MSA)
A state assessment program that tests students in reading and math in grades 3-8, and science in grades 5 and 8. The MSAs assess student achievement based on their progress in learning the Voluntary State Curriculum. The MSAs occur in March and April each year.
County Course Exams (CCE)
Calvert County's locally-developed end-of-course assessments for all core academic courses at the high school level.
Maryland High School Assessments (HSA)
Beginning with the class of 2005, students will be required to pass a phased-in set of state-developed assessments in core academic areas in order to obtain a Maryland High School Diploma.
National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP)
A national set of assessments designed to measure performance of students across the nation. It is administered every two years to students in 4th and 8th grades.
Advanced Placement Program (AP)
Tests administered after students complete college-level course work in high school advanced placement classes. College credits can be earned with high scores on these exams.
Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), SAT Reasoning Test (SAT), American College Test (ACT)
Scholarship eligibility and college entrance exams that are required by virtually all four-year public and private colleges and universities.
