Carpentry
This department has seven (7) employees. These employees are responsible for repairs to and construction or installation of the following:
- Flooring – tile, carpet, cement, and wood
- Ceiling – drywall, plaster, and acoustical
- Hardware – locks, panic bars, door closures
- Furniture repair – all types
- Roof repairs – built-up, shingles
- Termite control
- Checking fire extinguishers
- Locks
- Any other repairs to the structure of the buildings
- Bleachers – check and repair
Painting
This department has five (5) employees. These employees are responsible for:
- Interior painting
- Exterior painting
- Glass replacement
- Shade and blind repairs
- Sign preparation
- Parking lot markings
- Furniture refinishing
- Drywall taping and finishing
Interior painting is scheduled on a seven to eight year basis with spot area refurbishing as necessary.
Exterior painting is scheduled on a four to five year basis, depending on the condition of the building.
Electrical
This department has three (3) employees. The department is responsible for all repairs to and/or installation of the following:
- Lighting systems – interior and exterior
- Circuit breakers, switch-gears, disconnects
- Emergency lighting systems
- Instructional – Industrial Arts (shop equipment)
- Instructional – Home Economics (washers, dryers, stoves, and food service preparation equipment)
- Electrical wiring for computer labs, typing rooms, etc.
Plumbing/Water
This department has four (4) employees. The department is responsible for repairs to and/or installation of the following:
- Summer maintenance – toilets, fountains, water pumps, etc.
- Pumps on water systems
- Reading of time elapse meters for monthly water usage
- Grease traps, sewage lines, sump pumps, storm drains
- Home Economics – dishwashers, garbage disposals, steam kettles
- Maintaining sewage plant equipment – air pumps, valves, blowers, etc.
- Fire sprinkler systems, fire hydrants, science lab equipment
- General plumbing
- Water Testing
- Installation and monitoring of backflow preventers
Heating/Welding
This department has three (3) employees. The department is responsible for repairs to, cleaning of, and maintenance of the following:
- Boilers, burners, pumps
- Filters, valves, fire boxes
- Summer cleaning and servicing
- Major repairs scheduled for summer – retubing boilers, rebuilding fire boxes, etc.
- Adjustments
- Welding
Air Conditioning
This department has six (6) employees. The air conditioning department is responsible for repairs to and cleaning and maintenance of the following:
- Air Conditioning units
- Chillers, cooling towers, pumps
- Air handling equipment – pneumatic controls, electronic controls
- Air compressors, heat pumps
- Filters, bearings, belts, motors
- Instructional – refrigerators, freezers, ice machines, etc.
- Refrigeration – ice cream boxes, milk coolers, salad bars, walk-in boxes
- Kitchen equipment
Grounds/Automotive
This department has seven (7) employees. The grounds/automotive department is responsible for repairs to, and/or installation of the following:
- Repairs to driveways and parking lots
- Cutting grass at all schools and buildings
- Seeding and fertilizing
- Repair of all vehicles, lawn mowers, tractors, and other equipment
- Snow removal
- Playground equipment – installation & repair
- Field sprinkling systems
Audio Visual/Alarm Security Technician
This department has four (4) employees. The department is responsible for repairs to, cleaning of, and maintenance of the following:
- Keeping all audio visual equipment in an operable condition
- Public address systems
- Master clocks and bells
- TV and antenna repair
- Fire alarm systems
- Security systems
Delivery
This department has two (2) employees. The department is responsible for the following:
- Moving and hauling – furniture, tables and chairs for various functions, playground equipment, supplies, etc.
- Chair & desk repair
This department has three (3) employees. The department is responsible for the following:
- Overseeing the custodial operations
- Ordering, warehousing and distribution of all custodial supplies
- Ordering and repairing equipment
- Custodial Training
Secretarial & Work Order Technician
This department has three (3) employees. This department is responsible for the following:
- Taking calls from schools and channeling them to the proper area of maintenance
- All correspondence that enters and leaves the office, including the approval of flyers to be posted/distributed at the schools
- Record keeping for all areas of the maintenance department including; typing requisitions, keeping track of all purchase orders, running payroll, etc.
- Coordinating placement of custodial subs at all schools
- Keeping records of all school utilities such as gas, oil, electric, water & sewer, etc.
- Receiving all work orders that are generated and directing work crews to the areas in need
