Dr. Dan Curry has been Superintendent of Calvert County Public Schools since July 1, 2014. He is an active member of the Public School Superintendents Association of Maryland (PSSAM) and communicates issues of importance to the community through his blog http://calvertschoolssuperintendent.blogspot.com and Twitter @calvertsuper.
He previously served in the same position for Lake Forest School District in Felton, Delaware for eleven years. Dr. Curry served as Past President of the Delaware Chief School Officers and was named Delaware Superintendent of the Year for 2011. A 30+ year member, he has served on the Governing Board and Executive Board of the American Association of School Administrators.
He is originally from Fairmont, West Virginia. He majored in Elementary Education and minored in Speech and Drama at Fairmont State College. He earned masters and doctorate degrees in Education Administration from West Virginia University. He taught 4th and 6th grade. He was an elementary and middle school principal. He worked in the central office in a variety of assignments and even drove a school bus when substitute drivers were not available. He served West Virginia for 15 years as superintendent in Pocahontas County, Hancock County and Wood County.
