Child Find Identification is school age through age 20 who are suspected of having a disability. Child Find will screen, evaluate and work with families to develop an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). A child needing special education services will receive service based upon his/her individual need(s). Services may include Speech/Language Therapy, Special Education class for pre-school or kindergarten, Physical Therapy, and/or Occupational Therapy.
Child Find referrals are made by calling 410-535-7388.
What is the Process?
It begins with a review or screening of available information about the child.
When screening indicates the possibility of an educational disability, the child is evaluated in relevant areas.
When results indicate that a child is disabled and in need of special education services, an individualized plan is developed. This will be either an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or Individualized Service Plan, depending on the age and residency of the child.
