FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Staggered Start for Students in Pre-Kindergarten, Head Start, Kindergarten and Special Education Regional Program Students for the 2018-2019 School Year

The beginning of school is an exciting time for students and their families. To ensure the transition to school is as smooth as possible for our students in pre-kindergarten, Head Start, kindergarten, and special education regional programs, Calvert County Public Schools (CCPS) will implement a staggered start for the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year.

The staggered start will enable parents and guardians to meet with teachers to begin communication and collaboration at the beginning of the school year. The week will begin with a conference scheduled by the teacher. During this time, the child will be able to visit the classroom and engage in diverse activities to feel more comfortable in school.

Each program has a slightly different schedule. Please see the schedule below for detailed information.

Elementary schools will continue to host pre-kindergarten, Head Start, and kindergarten “Meet Your Teacher/Peek at Your Seat” events. Individual schools will schedule and publicize the dates and times later in the summer.

For more information, please call your child’s school directly.
