LEGO Robotics Winners
The Calvert Middle School LEGO Robotics team captured the Champions Award at the College of Southern Maryland 2018 LEGO Robotics Championship, Junior Division. In addition, “Robotics of Calvert Middle School” won1st Place in Robot Performance and the Presentation Award.
Dr. Daniel D. Curry, Superintendent, said, “Thanks to the coaches and sponsors who help our students perform at such a high level.”
The competition consisted of 39 elementary schools and 25 middle schools from the Southern Maryland Tri-County area.
This year’s challenge theme was “Animal Allies.” Teams were asked to use LEGO Mindstorm/EV3 robotics systems to build robots that could complete animal related tasks, such as delivering a shark in its tank to a safe zone. The teams earned points for each task successfully completed by their robot.
